Renowned Kauai'i artist, Patrice Pendarvis embraces and captures the essence of her subject -whether it's the magnificent tropical beauty and diversity of the Hawaiian Islands, her home for over 40 years, or the excitement of her worldly travels. With watercolor as her primary medium, she creatively explores its compelling yet challenging characteristics through traditional as well as abstract approaches - the result is a master piece of light, spontaneity and passion. Patrice also works in pastel, exploratory Watercolor Rice Paper Collage, water base oil and kiln fired China Paint.
"Being in constant observation, then responding to these influences creates my art. My paintings are ultimately from nature. They are familiar but not exact. It is how I interpret my emotional response that invites my viewer to step into my paintings, to experience that fleeting moment in time. Love of my work is the mainspring that motivates me. I share with the world my appreciation for the environment and hope to raise my viewer's consciousness to appreciate and respect it. If I can enhance a person's life and stimulate any emotional response, I have succeeded with my creative efforts.
Patrice is the recipient of numerous awards and purchase prizes. Her work has been selected for magazine covers, articles in various publications and TV productions.
